‘The 30K club has been an easy way to donate through monthly payments to the Gospel Mission. I was particularly enthusiastic knowing that he money was being directed towards affordable housing. “Housing First” is a solution for those in need and more secure housing is now being achieved through 30K initiative. I am proud to be one of the original members.’
Mayor Sharon Shepherd
What is the 30K Club
Launched in 2008 to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission, the 30K Club is a unique opportunity to make positive, long term change for people less fortunate in our city. In addition to housing, those individuals choosing to change their lives for good can access counselling, support, life skills training, education, and friendship through services provided by 30K. How you can help
Join the Club!! When you join the 30K Club, you will be joining a group of citizens, businesses, government officials and organizations who share a common vision… to truly change the face of homelessness in Kelowna. Where your money goes
Our homes and programs are successful! We’ve expanded our services to truly help people get back on their feet, moving from homelessness to wholeness. Our first 30K Club home, Shiloh House, which was purchased using 30K Club funds and Provincial Government funds, offers second-stage housing for women and children who are ready to move towards independence but cannot do it alone. While living in the home, women are asked to work or attend school, and support themselves by cooking, cleaning, and generally maintain their own household. In addition to this, we have Harmony House where women living at the residence can still access the counselling required to deal with everyday triggers. Harmony House is conveniently located right next door to Shiloh House.
With the opening of Shiloh and Harmony House 30K Club has made significant strides toward the original goal of providing recovery, transitional, and affordable homes in the Kelowna area.
We are now able to work on the second part of our goal which is to expand our programs that are making a profound difference.
Some of our 30K successes include:
More than 500 people housed
650 people assisted by case workers (jobs, counselling, connected to other community services)
4500 dental patient visits
More than 1.1Million in free dental services provided (find out more about our free Dental Clinic) (link: http://www.30kclub.com/dental-clinic/ )
The proceeds from the 30K Club will facilitate these ongoing goals.
